Holidays with the Kid
Thanksgiving:
"Disney World". Joe turned 50 that weekend so we celebrated
with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and the gang. "Folks his own
age" I loved the parades at Magic Kingdom and Epcot
and getting my picture taken with the different characters. Call
if you go there because we can give you some good tips.
Christmas Eve: The
day was filled with Mom's cooking, Bill's food platter and lots of fun
with cousins, aunts, uncles and grandmas. It was a super day but by 8:30pm
I was ready for the first half of the main event, opening presents!
I had made my list, checked it more then twice, behaved as well
as could be expected, held my breath, and starred at these gifts under
the tree. I must be getting older because it was almost as much
fun watching Grandma, Mom and Joe opening gifts. Well almost. About
10:00 it was time to get some sleep or I'd sleep through the 2nd, half
of the big evening-SANTA. This year I was so worn out from the long
day that I didn't hear him arrive. We went to bed and the next thing I
know Joe is waking me and saying, "He's here, He's here!" We went quietly
into the family room where we saw Santa placing presents under the tree.
He was humming a little Christmas song and seemed to be enjoying himself.
Joe took a picture of him and it came out pretty good. He
must be watching his calories because he looks a bit thinner this year.
Same suit, you'd think he might try something a bit different.
Christmas Day: Found
some goodies in my stocking and then went to Joe's sister's for brunch.
We exchanged gifts there and just had a very nice morning. That
afternoon I went out to my Dad's to share Christmas with him.
New Years Eve: Stayed
home, watched all the great celebrations and whupped Joe in Monopoly.
Mom won a game too, so I guess we are the reigning Millenium Monopoly
Queens.
New Years Day: Mom did
her rendition of Peggy Fleming on Ice and spent most of the day getting
a cast on her left wrist. I told her she wasn't ready for the triple
klutz but she had to give it a go. Oh well, parents never listen.
Vacation is fun and
Presents are great! Hugs are the Best, to
help celebrate!

Y2K - OK
We gathered
water, extra kitty litter and cat food,
assorted hard candies and some extra cans of tuna fish. We had
an extra flashlight on hand, some candles and turned the water bed to
high in case we lost power. But like the Grinch found out about
the Who's in Whoville, the celebration of the Holidays and the world
wide celebration on New Years Eve was a tidal wave of joy that would
not be denied. People of all races and beliefs joined hands and
celebrated the new millenium.
This outpouring of joy also seemed to point out two things: A
computer glitch might cause some inconvenience. Nothing mechanical
could squelch the human spirit or the reawakened hope that the peoples
of the world could accomplish anything.
Let's Hope and Pray and Keep it going.
Joe's
Simple Plan for 2000
This past Nov. I turned
50 and reaffirmed a lot of things that have worked for me in the past.
Things I know I can do with very little effort and have wonderful results:
Begin my day
with a positive affirmation.
Make my best Effort
through out each day.
Apply liberal doses
of the Serenity Prayer.
Begin and end each
day letting my girls know I love them.
Admit when I make
mistakes.
Let go and Let
God handle the rest.
Peace
and Good will the whole year!
Experiencing
Un-wanted Phone Solicitations?
Have you experienced
the phone call during dinner from someone who tries to interest you
in everything from credit cards to magazines. We were having that
enjoyable experience four to ten times a day, being polite only seemed
to invite further discussion. Being abrupt felt rude but there didn't
seem to be any middle ground. I found out about a wonderful recording
that US West will place on your phone, it tells solicitors to hang
up. IT WORKS! We have not had a solicitation call since
we purchased the service over a month ago. $6.95 per month has
been a marvelous investment.
Call 1-800-244-1111 for a bit more peace in your home. P.S.
Girl Scout cookies sales people and
realtors shouldn't be construed as solicitors.
